The Reality of Persecution
Persecution in the World In many places of the world, persecution for one's religious beliefs is a reality. By some estimates, in the world there is one believer martyred every nine minutes that would amount to 58,240 people martyred each year. Wherever one lives, the physical and mental preparation for this event is a necessity for a believer in the Messiah. An active relationship with the Almighty, before trouble comes, is what carries a person through the tough times.
Forms of Persecution When we hear the word 'persecution', one generally thinks of major events like being thrown in jail or physically attacked for one's beliefs. Yet persecution can come in many forms. Even just a threat of some type of attack which forces one to make changes in life is successul persecution. It can come legally or lillegally, it can be from an individual, a group, society, or government. And as believers, we are told in the Scriptures, it will come. Are we ready for it?
