Exploring Creation
in the Spiritual

by Todd Elder

At the end of the first week of creation, it is already evident that there is a physical realm that we live in and a spiritual realm that co-exists with it. The Almighty spoke things into being and blessed them. The heavenly host of angels already existed. Soon after, Lucier's rebellion and the fall of man take place bringing not just death into the world but also destruction through curses.

Within Creation

Physical and Spiritual

Throughout Scripture, there is a duality that follows the events and prophecies of the Almighty's people. On one level, this duality shows the effects in the physical life of the people. On another level, this duality shows the behind-the-scene action taking place in controlling events in our life. This is true both historically and prophetically.

Miracles and Blessings

Miracles happen more frequently for the new believer and blessings occur for the mature believer. This follows the amount of knowledge, wisdom, and obedience a person has regarding the covenant relationship. A new believer has immediate, and sometimes drastic, needs for which care must be given. The mature believer has had time to learn to live according to the Almighty's rules and, therefore, can now live in blessing and hopefully not reach such a point as needing a miracle to fix a problem.

Speech

Perhaps there is no stronger place than our speech in regards to effecting the spiritual. There is talk of controlling the tongue, life and death being in the tongue, the wise control what is said, judgments come on what we speak even to our idle words. The miracles, signs, and wonders in Scripture each happened after a word is spoken directly by the Almighty or indirectly through a prophet.

Within the Covenant Relationship

One aspect of the covenant relationship is the inclusion of blessings and curses which correspond to what will happen to Israel's obedience or disobedience to the covenant. Through Scripture, we can see that exactly what was taken on by Israel when they entered the promised land is exactly what came to pass many centuries later including the captivity and dispersion of the Nation as well as the return of the people to the land thousands of years later.

Vows and Oaths

The promises, vows, and commitments that we speak are very powerful. Blessing is speaking well of another and cursing is speaking evil of another and this speech has an effect in the spiritual. A covenant is made with the mouth and it sets into motion many things seen and unseen which bring that covenant into fruition.

Our Possessions

Although they are physical in nature, our possessions can contribute to what happens to us in the spiritual. Curses and demonic activity can come through possessions that a Believer in the Almighty should not have. A large part of this is due, directly or indirectly, to idolatry. By getting rid of such items, blessing and peace can be restored to our lives.

Judgment

In many ways, what happens to us is a form of judgment based on our speech and our actions. It is based upon the concepts of righteousness which are described in Scripture.

Within Salvation

Messiah

After eternal life, one of the greatest things that happens to a believer who accepts the Messiah as Savior is the cleansing and healing of the entire being. He offers new life and through His authority, the effects of our speech and actions that have brought negativity and pain into our lives can be cancelled out and peace can be restored.
